Tuesday 13

In cultures of Spain, Greece and the countries of Latin America, Tuesday 13 is considered an unlucky day. Many people with phobia of this day, do not travel anywhere by superstition. Fear of this day is called Trezidavomartiofobia or Triscaidecafobia.

The negative connotations given to Tuesday, 13 do not have scientific basis and therefore must be very clear that it is just a myth.  Many people take the opposite view, regarding it as a day of good luck. So much so that on that day many are bet on that number in gambling.

The connotations applied to this day are the same as the Friday 13th in the Anglo-Saxon cultures or Friday 17 in Italy.

Why 13

Meanwhile the number thirteen from antiquity was seen as ominous as the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, had twelve disciples and he died, Jesus Christ, was number 13. The Kabbalah lists 13 evil spirits, like the Norse legends, in Revelation, chapter 13 corresponds to the antichrist and the beast. Scandinavian legend also note that according to the same tradition, at a dinner of gods in Valhalla, Loki, the spirit of evil, was the 13th guest. In the Tarot, this number refers to death.

Why the Tuesday

For its part, the combination with the day Mars has its origin in the late Middle Ages. On Tuesday May 29, 1453 the city of Constantinople fell. Apparently, the pope and the Republics of Venice and Genoa sent a fleet to aid the besieged city, but it fell before they arrived. When the relief fleet entered the Straits of the Dardanelles, they passed a few boats of refugees fleeing the conquered city, to ask when it had fallen, they responded Tuesday. The fall of Constantinople was a profound shock to the Christian powers, and the day of its fall, on Tuesday, also partnered the pagan god of war, came to be considered unlucky.

Martes (Tuesday in Spanish) is a word that descends from the name of the planet Mars, which in the Middle Ages was called the "little evil" and that means will, energy, tension and aggressiveness. Mars (or Ares according to Greek mythology), god of the war, which on Tuesday is ruled by the red planet, the destruction, blood and violence. In addition, the legend says that one day Tuesday 13 saw the confusion of tongues at the Tower of Babel.
